Classic game with today’s technology
Conductr is a pioneer in the world of modern entertainment. They transform traditional games into interactive experiences in which enjoyment, competition, and hospitality come together. The challenge of this project was to modernize a physical game and make it suitable for scalable, international use.
Precise location detection with RFID
NiftyBits translated this challenge into an innovative technical solution. The question was whether we could detect the exact position of a game object on a playing field. Through the development of an advanced sensor grid, composed of RFID antennas in the play surface and tags in the game objects, the position could be automatically and precisely detected. The system immediately registers if an object is on the play surface, and ultimately, detects the exact position of the game object.
Interactive fun and competition
Through a custom-made communication protocol, data is sent to the game controller/computer, making unique game elements (gamification) possible. In this manner, we can vary the game with endless variations of game themes. For example, the play surface could represent a virtual pizza where every interaction with a specified section of the play surface adds a new pizza topping to the pizza. With such a game, different unique and bizarre pizzas can be created all while the system automatically processes and keeps track of everything.
Alongside the electronics, NiftyBits also developed the physical components, including the high-quality wooden housing unit and metal frames. The result is a classic game with a modern touch that perfectly suits the world of game halls and entertainment establishments.
